Access Mobility is a family owned and operated business that has served Central Indiana since 1971.

With well over 100 years of combined experience, the Access Mobility team is prepared to meet all your needs. Our full service and repair department, sales team, accounting and management teams are all under one roof, making us the true one-stop-shop for mobility and accessibility solutions in the state.

Our History

The journey of Access Mobility began back in 1971, inside the small Indianapolis home of Raymond and Margie Jewell. Reading through the local newspaper, they came across an advertisement looking for sales representatives to help introduce a new product to the region: lift chairs. The Jewells answered that ad and began supplying this revolutionary new product all over Indiana, and ultimately all over the Midwest. Initially operating out of the garage of their home, Lift Chairs, Inc. grew into a successful business, culminating into the building of our current headquarters here on Emerson Avenue.

Sadly, in 1989, Mr. Jewell unexpectedly passed away. With the loss of the business leader, the family and employees faced a pivotal choice: close up shop, or continue to press on. After much thought, in the midst of a rapidly changing industry, Ray and Margie’s daughter and son-in-law took up the challenge. With a new name and a change in strategy, Accessibility Products, Inc. would be the new chapter in the family business. A big driving force behind the change of focus was the arrival of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), which brought awareness to the severe lack of access individuals with differences faced in and around public places. The product offering would be expanded to include accessibility lifts and vehicle modifications along with dozens of other helpful aids. To better serve the local market, the service area was reduced as well, focusing specifically on Central Indiana.

In 2000, the family welcomed a third generation to join the business and continue their proud tradition. Later in 2005, Accessibility Products shortened their name and became what we know today as Access Mobility, Inc. The product offering now covers everything from canes and walkers to residential elevators and vertical lifts. Keeping with the Jewell’s original vision, lift chairs have always remained a focus of the business.

All of us at Access Mobility genuinely appreciate having the opportunity to serve our great community. We have seen many of our friendly competitors come and go, but thanks to our outstanding customers, along with our strong core values, we have continued our family vision.
